Time Travel at Haus Tyrol | Hotel Garni ***
Our roots trace back to the beginnings of winter tourism in Obertauern, when the village consisted of only a few houses. Here, from 1929, Hias and Liesl Aichmann worked – as a houseboy at Seekarhaus and a cook at Tauernpasshöhe, respectively – and also met there. Thus, they were among the pioneers in the winter sports resort of Obertauern. From 1938, the two decided to lease the Vindobonahaus in the village. With combined efforts, Hias and Liesl built in 1951 the Gasthof Petersbühel, and in 1956, they moved into it together with their three sons Hias, Günther, and Herbert. This allowed the family to fully concentrate on their new guesthouse. In 1972, Günther and his wife Marianne built the Tyrol and started its first winter season in the same year. Thus, they laid the foundation for our current hotel, which we operate with great warmth and care.
